Martha Linscott resigned from her duties as Head Golf Coach, February 22, 2021 after seven years with the program. Linscott joined the coaching staff in 2014 as the Assistant Coach and then was promoted to Head Coach in 2016.
As the Head Coach, Linscott had five top four MSHSAA District placements, two Sectional top three placements and one State Championship appearance. The team finished second place at the MSHSAA State Championship in the fall 2020 season.
Under her tutelage, 10 student-athletes earned All-District honors, five All Sectional, two All-State honors and one student-athlete advanced their golf career into the collegiate ranks.
"While this is a tough day for our program, we couldn’t be any more proud and excited for Coach Linscott,” Athletic Director, Ty Abney said. “She has done so many wonderful things for our department and student-athletes, she’ll be greatly missed. I’ve watched our golf program do nothing, but improve since she arrived. She has been a tremendous role model for our young women and a wonderful member of our staff. Park University made a great hire in Coach Linscott.”
While Coach Linscott is moving on from STA, she's not stepping away from the game. She is now the head men's and women's golf coach at Park University.
"STA is a very special place,” Martha Linscott said. “I thoroughly enjoyed working with the golf team, helping each player achieve their individual goals, and sharing in the team’s greatest achievement of finishing second place at the State Championship. It’s always a joy to see young golfers tap into their potential. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this great program. Go Stars!"
The search for Linscott’s replacement will begin promptly.
